Shivamogga: We welcome difference of opinion - C T Ravi on IAS officers’ quitting issue

Daijiworld Media Network - Shivamogga

Shivamogga, Sep 13: “We welcome difference of opinion,” said minister of tourism, C T Ravi, reacting to the resignation of IAS officers.

Ravi, who visited Sagar near here on Friday, was asked a reaction by the media, regarding IAS officers quitting in retaliation to the policies of the Centre.

“I will not ask the officers to go to Pakistan. Also they should not fear on being sent to jail. Our government will not create an emergency like situation,” Ravi clarified.

C T Ravi’s statement comes after controversial remarks by MP Ananth Kumar Hegde who had called IAS officer Sasikanth Senthil a ‘traitor’ for resigning as deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district. He had also asked Senthil to go to Pakistan and fight directly against India instead of breaking the country internally.

While the resignations are not many, it has become a talking point among civil servants and there is a fear it may set a trend.

In August, G. Kannan, a young officer of the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre left the service, publicly expressing his reservation and disillusionment with the actions of the government of India in Jammu and Kashmir.

The next resignation was by Karnataka cadre IAS officer S. Sasikanth Senthil who blamed, “fundamental building blocks of diverse democracy on being compromised” as the reason.

The same day, Kashish Mittal, an AGMUT cadre officer posted in the NITI Aayog, resigned for being posted to the Northeast.

The resignations have led to rising political conflicts between the BJP and the Congress. While BJP leaders cited officers who quit were in a ‘cozy relationship’ with the Left, Congress blamed BJP for putting pressure on bureaucrats to leave their jobs.

Anybody is welcome to quit his job on his own if he is not in good terms with the Govt. Because indian voter has voted MODI to lead the country but not IAS officers who DANCE to the tunes of their boss for personal gains.

It is natural those who close to political boss could not manage while change of Govt.

Life is circle, our ancestors started their life as slaves without knowing and enjoying their fundamental human rights, then some noble hearted people realized that every human need to enjoy their fundamental rights, fought for it and won and we enjoyed the freedom and now we are bored of it so we strongly feel that being a Slaves is the best, accordingly steadily, consciously or unconsciously but certainly we are struggling to our level best to bring back Slave system Back.

Being a former civil servant both in India (albeit for a very short time) and in Canada for the longest time, it is my view that if a civil servant is at fundamental odds with the government over its policies, the civil servant's continued employment is untenable and reflects on performance at their job. If the latter happens, it is best for the person to resign (if capable of sustaining life without a job), or shut up. But in no case, DO NOT UNDERMINE the government.

Then why show cause notice issued to Gopinath Kannan by centre if you welcome difference????... He resigned for Insubordination and dereliction of duty as per BJP principled rules which were not as per constitution. So is same with other officers who resigned.

Good to know that difference of opinion is acceptable and will be honoured.
I thought difference of opinion is not at all tolerated under the present regime.
I thought people who comment on the government are termed anti nationals.
I also thought people who refuse to say "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" are sent to Pakistan.
