Sheelavathi said in her complaint that Ramanna Shetty (58), who had been her student in the past, had borrowed five lac rupees on May 23, 2014 for performing the marriage of his daughter. She alleged that Shetty had issued her a cheque on March 27, 2019 towards repayment of the loan but the cheque had bounced for want of funds and also because signature of the drawer differed from the specimen lodged with the bank.

Cheating your own teacher is the most unworthy act of a person.

As per protocol, the Sultan of Oman never comes to receive a president or dignitary. But, in 1994, when Indian president Shanker Dayal Sharma went to Oman on an official visit, the Sultan came to receive him. He climbed the stairs and welcomed the president from his chair. After, coming down, he signaled the driver to go and Sultan himself drove the president to his palace.

Sultan was asked why he broke the protocol, he said he did not come to receive the Indian president, but he came to honour his teacher. Sultan was educated in India and in Pune, the president was his professor.
