Mumbai crime branch arrest auto driver for flashing in front of woman

Mumbai, Sep 12: An auto driver, identified as Mohammad Shakil Abdul Kadar Memon from Malwani, Malad (West), arrested by Mumbai crime branch for flashing and masturbating in front of a woman, on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old accused, as per police, has a history of harassing women. A police officer said the incident happened at a bus stop in Chincholi Bunder on Link Road on September 1 around 11.30 pm. When the 20-year-old woman was waiting at the bus stop, the accused came with his vehicle and parked it in front of the bus stop close to the women.  

“He asked the complainant to sit in his auto but she ignored him. He then unzipped his trousers and flashed his privates at her. The complainant called her mother and told her about the incident. Instead of leaving the spot, Memon started masturbating in front of the woman, police officers told HT reporter.

The accused fled the spot when the woman raised her voice. The woman, along with her mother went to the Bangur Nagar police station and filed an FIR against the auto driver.  

The police started searching for the accused after the FIR was registered.  “We started searching for the accused and learned that he drove somebody else’s auto on a shift basis. We checked CCTV footage of the locality and questioned several auto drivers in Malad, Goregaon and Dahisar,” said Chimaji Adhav, police inspector of unit 11, as reported in HT.

Memon was identified and arrested from Malwani area on Wednesday was kept in custody  in the Bangur Nagar police station for further legal process.
