Mangaluru, Sep 4: District congress committee staged a protest here at the DC office on Wednesday, September 4, against the arrest of former minister and state Congress leader D K Shivakumar by Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Addressing the protestors, former MLA J R Lobo said, "We condemn the arrest of D K Shivakumar. Enforcement directorate is harassing Shivakumar for the last four days. Though D K Shivakumar co-operated with the ED, they have claimed that Shivakumar has not responded to their queries and stated that as a reason for the arrest.”

Former minister Ramanath Rai said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are playing hate politics and targeting opposition leaders one by one. In order to hide the failure of the government, the BJP are targeting Congress leaders and getting them arrested. When Yediyurappa was involved in horse trading, these departments were silent and did not show any kind of interest in conducting an enquiry.”

Congress leaders raised slogans against BJP government and also in favour of D K Shivakumar.

Meanwhile Congress leaders burnt effigy of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. When Congress leaders tried to block the road, police arrested the protesting leaders. Traffic was affected for a while in the wake of the protest.

MLC Ivan D’Souza, district Congress president Harish Kumar, former MLA Shakuntala Shetty, Abhayachandra Jain and others were present.

Udupi: District Congress committee holds protest against arrest of D K Shivakumar

Udupi, Sep 4: District Congress committee staged a protest against the arrest of Congress leader D K Shivakumar.

Addressing the protestors, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “Today is a black day for Karnataka. D K Shivakumar is in Congress from his student life. He has been arrested because of the conspiracy hatched by Modi and Amit Shah. From the past two to three years Shivakumar is constantly harassed. Though Shivakumar has co-operated with the ED and IT during investigation, he has been arrested. This is murder of democracy. BJP is trying to build a ‘Congress mukth’ nation. To fulfill this, BJP is using ED, IT, election commission and other establishments. It is trying to destroy the opposition parties. BJP has bought MLAs in various states. In Karnataka also BJP tried to buy many MLAs. One of the MLA admitted the same in Vidhana Sabha also. Are not these facts come to the notice of ED?” questioned Sorake.

U R Sabhapathi, former MLA said, “ED has interrogated DKS for more than four days. Yesterday ED arrested him saying he is not co-operating with the investigation. Protesting the arrest of DKS, Congress party will hold protests all over India.”

The protestors blocked the road and sat on the road. They also shouted slogans against the central government, ED and IT.

Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president Udupi district Congress, Prakhyath Shetty, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Veronica Cornelio, Ramesh Kanchan, Sathish Amin Padukere and others were present on the occasion.

Folks, let DKS face the law of the land but lets not concentrate on DKS arrest instead let the central Govt focus on improving sluggish Indian economy. BJP luring the public divert the focus.

Vendetta politics by Modi and Amit Shah against Shiv Kumar. The people of Karnataka will not tolerate this selective use of the ED to target opposition political leaders while providing safe sanctuary to corrupt people who join the BJP.

Shiv Kumar will be the next CM of Karnataka.
