First Hindu girl inducted into Sindh Police in Pak

Islamabad, Sep 4 (IANS): In a historic first in Pakistan, a Hindu girl has been inducted into Sindh Police after she cleared the provincial competitive examination.

Pushpa Kolhi has been posted as an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in the province, reported Geo news.

The news was shared on Twitter by Pakistani human rights activist Kapil Dev late on Tuesday.

"Pushpa Kolhi has become the first girl from #Hindu community who has qualified provincial competitive examination through Sindh Public Service Commission and become Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in Sindh Police. More power to her!" Dev tweeted.

Earlier in January, Suman Pawan Bodani became Pakistan's first female judge belonging to the Hindu community. Bodani, who hails from the Shahdadkot area in Sindh, stood 54th in the merit list for the appointment of civil judge/judicial magistrate.
