Mangaluru: Eye donation held at Shakthi Residential School

Mangaluru, Aug 30: “Our eyes can remain alive even after our death and be light in the life of another person. Why should we not vow to donate our eyes after our death? The number of people who need cornea grows day by day. Though the number of donors is increasing, it has failed to fulfil the need. Therefore, we need to donate eyes and give sight to people who suffer from blindness,” said Jayaram Bollaje, organizing secretary of ‘Sakshama’, which works for progress of differently abled.

He addressed a programme on the importance of eye donation held at Shakthi Pre-University College. Shakthi management committee member and Sakshama organization district president, Dr Muraleedhar Naik said that eye donation is the only way to take someone from darkness to light.

College principal, Prabhaker G S, Sakshama organization assistant secretary, Suresh Prabhu and Mangaluru university MSW students were present.

Sanskrit professor, Srinidhi Abhyankar compered the programme.

Commerce department, Professor Shilpa rendered the vote of thanks.
