Mangaluru: Boat Tracker App to be introduced for safety of fishermen

Mangaluru, Aug 27: With a view of security and to assist the fishermen, who are in danger in deep sea, the district administration is going high tech. The process of the Boat Tracker App which is started for this purpose is in its last stages.

Preparations are in full swing to implement the App in five boats of Mangaluru coast in the first phase as a pilot project. This App will give the district administration accurate information of the number of boats in Dakshina Kannada district, the fishermen on each boat and their safety.

Boat Tracker App is the concept of Deputy Commissioner of the district Sasikanth Senthil. The App is developed by Wizlite Innovation Center of Mysuru. As a pilot project this App will be installed in five boats in the next week. Once the results are satisfactory, this App will be introduced in the other districts of Coastal Karnataka.

All the boat owner will download the App in future. The leader of the fishermen's team will have to upload the picture and other related information of the fishermen in the group, on the App, every time the boat ventures for fishing in the sea.
