Bengaluru, Aug 24: An exceptional investigation by Bengaluru police has solved the murder case of a 32-year-old woman from Kolkata.

The accused of the murder is an Ola cab driver, arrested on August 21. The taxi driver was hired by the woman to drop her at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on July 31.

The accused had killed the woman after robbing her. The woman has been identified as Pooja Singh De from Kolkata, who was a model-cum-event manager. Pooja had come to Bengaluru on July 30 and was on her way back to Kolkata on July 31, which is when she was brutally murdered.

Pooja was found in a pool of blood by local villagers out for a walk early in the morning. On discovering her body, they called the police. Pooja was found lying close to the compound of KIA, with multiple stab wounds and injuries on the head.

When police arrived at the scene they, found no handbag for identification but noticed the victim wearing branded products.

Police learned that Pooja had boarded the Ola cab from Hosur Road at 4.15 am on July 31. The accused, who drove her, has been identified as H M Nagesh (22), a resident of Hegganahalli Cross.

The driver took a deviation and stopped at an isolated spot to demand money when Pooja refused, he thrashed her head with a jack rod. He then began searching for her belongings for cash. Nagesh stole Rs 500 and two mobile phones and decided to get rid of her.

He drove near Kaada Yarappanahalli village, Jala Hobli, to a place where vehicles there was less traffic, On reaching the spot, Pooja regained consciousness, leading to a tussle between the two. As Pooja opened the door to flee, Nagesh stabbed her with a knife and bludgeoned her face with a stone.

The meticulous investigation which was carried by police led to Nagesh’s arrest. One of the key aspects that helped the police identify the body was the unique identity number on the ‘Titan’ watch Pooja was wearing. The facial features of the victim led the police to believe Pooja was from West Bengal or some part of North India.

The police officials further found that she was married and by profession a model-cum-event manager. A team of investigators was sent to Delhi and Kolkata to find reports of missing people.

The police were then led to the reason for Pooja's visit to Bengaluru. Following which it was found that the last person she was with was the cab driver. Police then spent hours interrogating Nagesh, who yielded to the pressure and confessed his crime. An iPhone and a couple of Pooja's belongings were found on Nagesh who was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

Reason for all these cab drivers taking isolated route is toll plaza which charges heavy fee. To save from these toll fee drivers take some different route Which connects to airport. By taking this isolated route they save from paying toll fee. Government should revise fee at this toll gate.
