Kundapur, Aug 22: The mortal remains of Malleshappa (27), a police constable attached to Shankaranarayana police station in the taluk, were found at Tarikere in Chikkamagaluru district under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday August 20. Malleshappa had proceeded on leave.

Constable Malleshappa had availed leave from August 16 for visiting his native place. His motorbike was found on the banks of Bettadakere lake in Bettadahalli village of Tarikere taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, on Tuesday. The locals who grew suspicious, informed the police. The local police, with help from fire officials, searched in the lake and retrieved the lifeless body of Malleshappa.

There have been doubts about the way Malleshappa died. Malleshappa was appointed as policeman in 2015 and was working in Shankaranarayana police station since then. He was unmarried and has left behind parents and a sister.

A case relating to his death has been registered in Tarikere police station. The police are investigating.
