Mangaluru, Aug 21: In an incident that occurred on the morning of Wednesday, August 21 at a curve on the road in Hosabettu near Suratkal on the outskirts of the city, a truck hit the private mini bus carrying school children.

Two children have been injured in the accident. The mini bus was picking up children to take them to the school. It took a turn from the main road to an inside road. In the meantime, a truck that was moving with high speed on the highway collided on the left side of the bus. The bus brushed against a transformer pole situated by the side of the road. The locals said that the danger would have escalated if the pole of the transformer had fallen on the bus.

Only two children were in the bus when the accident took place. Both of them have been admitted to a hospital in Suratkal. Fortunately, major mishap is averted by providence. A case in this regard stands registered in the Mangaluru North traffic police station.

Inspite of several complaints to DC, DGP, RTO Mangalore through social media, roads still remains death traps in DK. It's only in DK you get to see, such ruthless, lawless driving. Social media messages to the senior officers have gone to deaf ear's. When is the end to all these disaster's.
To whom should we complain to?

Truck and bus or rickshaw collisions are a regular feature. It is time that trucks are fitted with speed governors.

This was a miraculous escape not only for the school children in the bus but others if the transformer pole was hit by the school bus. God only saved this tragedy. Whoever is responsible for this should be penalized to the maximum.

We need strict traffic management on our highways. Not enough is being done to control the buses going like race cars, trucks playing on the fast lane and the bikers sprawling all over the road and of course fast cars. Unfortunate that we all keep writing about this but nothing happens. I sincerely wish the new commissioner of police Harsha Sir, takes note if this and does something about it
