Mangaluru: Govt should declare Beltangady as flood-affected taluk – former minister U T Khader

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Aug 12: Former district-in-charge minister U T Khader said that the government should declare Beltangady taluk as the worst flood-affected taluk.

Addressing media here on Monday August 12, U T Khader said, "Due to heavy rain several properties, agricultural land and houses were damaged in the district. With the help of district administration, rescue operations were carried out. Bantwal and Beltangady taluk had more impact due to the heavy rainfall.”

“The government should declare Beltangady taluk as worst affected by the disaster and at the same Kodagu model compensation should be given to the victims of Bantwal and Beltangady taluk. Last year, Kodagu was affected with flood where many people lost their houses, the then coalition government had announced to provide separate houses worth Rs 9.5 lac for those who lost their houses due to the natural calamity. The same model should be provided for Bantwal and Belthangady taluk,” said U T Khader.

U T Khader further said, “Until the new house is constructed, house rent upto Rs 10,000 should be provided so that the victims can live in a rented house until the new house is constructed. Government should also provide agriculture package for damaged agricultural land and crop.”

Former MLA Abhaya Chandra Jain was also present.

I have been watching him either in press meet or TV channels. What I observed from his comments, speeches,he is the true leader and speaks the facts from his mind not just to appease the people.Which party he belongs is different, what constructive works he is doing is the criteria.Apart from the good works done on humanitarian ground in the past, today in the said press meet he spoke the facts that government should declare Belthangadi and B.C Road as flood affected taluk and should provide adequate compensation, facilities and home to all the flood affected people who lost their properties, houses, agriculture properties and became penniless, helpless and destitutes.

Mr. UT Khader, many best wishes on Bakrid.
For some unknown reasons I feel that he is a true leader and derives lot of respect from his constituency regardless of whether you are religious affiliation.
Yeddy (or any other CM) is best served if he recognizes genuine leaders from a constituency regardless of their political affiliation.
However, I have one suggestion to Mr. Khader. It takes a lifetime to be recognized as a leader. Kindly speak your mind and truth, so that people across party lines can fall in line at the need of the hour. I really hope you are raising the right question and considering flooding in every part of Karnataka, you are.
