Mangaluru: Great deluge of 1974 remembered - Two lose lives in rains

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 11: The rivers in the district are flowing above the danger level and have made the people of the Dakshina Kannada district to remember the 1974 great deluge, in which the district suffered huge losses.

Two people have died because of the heavy rains in the district. Janardhan (30), a resident of Jidekallu in Puttur taluk was drowned in Bedrala rivulet on Saturday, August 10. It is suspected that he must have slipped and fallen into it. He was working in agricultural farm at Ragidakumeru and it is said that while returning from work in the evening he must have slipped and fallen into the rivulet. Police and the fire service personnel are searching for his body.

Netravati river in full flow

Abdul Razak (45), a resident of Guntebagilu in Uppinangady, who was working as an assistant in the Valachil central Juma Masjid on the outskirts of the city of Mangaluru died on Saturday, when he fell into the trench, which was flowing with flood water. He was discharging duties as a Moizzin at Valachil Mosque. He was going to the Mosque at 8.30 am and slipped into the trench due to the heavy wind. Within seconds, people who were nearby, searched for him but he had died by then.

Along with the main rivers of Netravati and Kumaradhara, other tributaries in the district are flowing above their usual mark and have caused widespread damage. Netravati and Kumaradhara have crossed the danger level. Netravati river touched 11.06 meter at Thumbay on Saturday. This is three meters above the danger level. The area near the river is completely flooded. Residents of the locality are shifted to safer places.

In Uppinanagady, Netravati river had reached 31 meters. The danger level is 26.5 meters at this point. Because of this the water gushed onto the highway at many places. However, the level came down to 8.5 meters and 26.5 meter in Thumbay and Uppinangady respectively.

If the water would have accumulated another four feet in the Netravati river, it would have reached the great deluge that occurred on July 25 of 1974 as per the residents of Panemanagaluru. In the 1974 deluge, water had gone above the Panemangaluru bridge to a height of one feet. The highways were submerged under six feet of water. Thousands of people had lost their houses and property in 1974. It is said that after two decades, this kind of surge is seen in the Netravati river.

Coastal area, Western Ghats and plateau regions are badly affected by flood and landslides. The concerned officials, NDRF, Home Guard personnel and fire service people are working on war footage speed to help the victims. People representatives are also with the officials to listen to the woes of the affected people.

Different people aired their comments, opinions in this column according to their whims and fancy. It is quite obvious because each and everybody has their own ideology and capacity of evaluating the matter. But in front of nature's fury nothing can be done by living animals like human beings. We have to oblige whatever the nature's call is.
@ JNB, Bejai,Mangalore :-Frog and Frogies marriage may be the reason! It is not the reason for this devastating causalities. These are all people's beliefs.First of all we have to worship the nature and pray to God for our secured life.According to the report received marriage of Frog and Frogies will come to end very soon.Divorce formalities are in progress and final verdict of the court in this regard is awaited. But now groom is reluctant to give divorce as this marriage was held by force, not as per the wish of the groom. Now he is torturing and harassing the bride to bring more dowry, posh house and branded car...Hahaha.

Ezekiel 13:13 clearly mentions Read carefully!!!
Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: In my wrath I will unleash a violent wind, and in my anger hailstones and torrents of rain will fall with destructive fury.
People of manglore please hereafter be compassionate to your neighbors

Feast of Dedication of Basilica of St. Mary Major - Blessed Mother's True Birthday

The Blessed Virgin Mary says: "Praise be to Jesus."

"Dear children, thank you for sharing My Birthday with Me today. It is one year, closer, to the purification of the world - one year, closer, to the Victory of My Immaculate Heart. One year, far distant, since My warnings at Fatima.* Your prayers over the last year, have postponed wars, changed weather patterns, and overcome tragedies in the making. While you see much that needs to change, I see progress. So, I tell you, continue to love Me and to pray, pray, pray."

    * Apparitions to Lucia Santos and her cousins, Jacinta and Francisco Marto, from May 13, 1917 to October 13, 1917, in Fatima, Portugal.

BTW, INDIA WILL OVERTAKE CHINA AS THE MOST POPULOUS COUNTRY VERY SOON!

Compare the population then & now! Population explosion is one of the main causes of such huge destruction of property and material!

Unless we control the population, there is no hope!

    Dear Rolf,
If there was creator and he wished us to worship him, then he would have used his powers into worshipping him as it is believed his powers are limitless. He need not depend on other mortals to convince me to worship him. He can send this message directly to all mortals’ right? I use logic to know the destruction of environment over a period on account of population explosion. I extrapolate things and am convinced of that worshipping the creator that in itself would not stop the population explosion and the destruction and pollution that come with it.

Message from God the Father on sexual abuse sins, sickness and disasters.

    July 18th, 2019...

"Keep telling all My children that they must realize that all sickness and disorders are from sins of the flesh, especially abortion and homosexuality. My children MUST realize that there was no sickness in the Garden of Eden until Adam and Eve sinned. Then they were cast out so no evil would be left in the Garden. This is when all the people of the world had to start living in sickness because of their sins.

It is the same today. If every one of My children quit sinning, got down on their knees, and followed the Ten Commandments of their God, all the sickness, disasters, and sins of the flesh in the world would end. This is how it will be in the New Era of Peace, the New Jerusalem. My children seem to be blind and unable to see that every sin in the world causes more sickness. Until all sin stops you will continue to see storms, health problems, sexual abuse, natural disasters, and all other kinds of suffering in the world.

Wake up, My children, and admit that your sins are the very reason for so much suffering and abuse in your world. This is God the Father trying to get in your stubborn heads that sickness is from sin ONLY, not from God but from following satan’s sickness and sin. Love, the Father of All Heaven and Earth. Amen."

All this happens bcoz of arrogance of mankind. Now a days there is no respect for the elderly. People are living as they like.!!!
Women don’t care for their husbands
    Always on mobile
With whom they are chatting and laughing don’t know
Children behave as per their wish

I remember the areas near Kulur and Alive in Mangalore getting badly affected and announcements were made for donations and for clothes for the people who were in trouble whose houses were affected. People were ready to help others and donated whatever possible. 1974 was not a year where the incomes were high still people helped one another and there was no religious divide. I don't know today whether the same situation exists . Hope people help each other
