Osama's son Hamza bin Laden dead, claims US official

Washington, Aug 1: Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's son, Hamza bin Laden is dead according to a US official. Certain pieces of evidence have been gathered justifying this claim. The US official has stated that the death of Hamza is because of the involvement of the United States of America.

A report by New York Times stated that Hamza was killed in the initial years that Donald Trump became President. However, the covert operation took place before the state department announced the USD 1 million dollar reward for the information on his hideout.

The report also stated that although the role of US was specified, the extent of the role in the death of Osama's son was not detailed.

No confirmation regarding the same has been made by either Trump or the defence department. Hamza was believed to be carrying forward his father's legacy. Considering the gravity of the situation, state department had designated him as a 'Specially Designated Global Terrorist' back in the year 2017.
