Mangaluru, Jul 31: Body of Siddhartha Hegde who was missing since the evening of Monday was found on Wednesday morning of July 31.

The body was found on the riverbank at Hoige Bazar area in city. Local fishermen, who were about to go for fishing in the morning, found the body and alerted the police.

Body was taken to Wenlock Hospital for post-mortem and which it was shifted to Chikkamagaluru.

Funeral will be held in Chikkamagaluru on July 31 evening.

"Two fishermen found Siddhartha's body early this morning about 500 metres away from the road bridge from where he alleged to have jumped into the river on Monday night," Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil told reporters here.

The body was found by the fishermen near Hoige Bazar in trousers but without shirt.

"The body has been shifted to the state-run Wenlock hospital mortuary here for autopsy. It will be handed over to Siddhartha's family and taken to Chikkamgaluru for the last rites," Ullal Congress legislator and former minister U.T. Khadar said.

"It was identified to be Siddhartha's with a gold ring on his right hand finger, a digital watch on his left hand and shoes he was wearing when he appears to have jumped off the road bridge.

On asked about the body found with the torso naked and only trousers on, Khader said though it was for the police to investigate whether he took them off before jumping into the river, as they were not found on the bridge or in the vicinity during the 36-hour long search operation.

The 36-hour long massive search in the river had continued over the last two night which led to the spot where the body surfaced and seen by the two fishermen.

"The body will be kept for homage by the public at Chikkamgaluru and the last rites will be performed at Siddharatha's native village in the Coffee district.

It was also a fisherman named Simon D'Souza on Tuesday, who had claimed to have seen a man, likely to be the CCD founder, jumping into the Netravathi river from the same bridge on Monday evening, police had said, almost 24 hours after his driver raised an alarm about the missing businessman.

Two days prior to his disappearance, the 60-year-old had left behind a note to his employees that revealed he was in deep debt.

The mountain of debt was impairing his business as working capital requirements could not be met. It led him to sale his stakes in IT firm Mindtree that gave him some room to manoeuvre.

"I have failed to create the right profitable business model despite my best efforts. I would like to say I gave it my all. I am very sorry to let down all the people that put their trust in me. I fought for a long time but today I gave up as I could not take any more pressure...," his note read.

In his desperation, he was also reportedly in a dialogue with global beverage maker Coca-Cola for an equity sale in flagship Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) at an enterprise valuation of around Rs 10,000 crore may have been on the anvil.

In a complaint to the police, his driver, who last saw him alive, said that Siddhartha told him to stop by the side soon as they drove on to the bridge and asked him to wait in the car at the end of the bridge as he wanted to walk up and had to make calls.

"When the rain started, I took a u-turn and drove back to the spot where I left Sir and searched around for him. As it was dark, windy and raining, I could not find him anywhere on the bridge or in the river," Patil had said in the complaint.

Siddhartha left Bengaluru on Monday afternoon to Sakleshpur near Hassan where he has a house and one of his coffee estates. As it was on way to Mangaluru, he told Patil to drive towards Mangaluru after a short break at Sakleshpur to fresh-up.

Siddhartha is the elder son-in-law of senior BJP leader, S M Krishna, who was External Affairs Minister in the UPA-2 government (2009-12) and state Chief Minister (1999-2004) when in the Congress.

Mangaluru: Did fisherman Simon D’Souza see Siddhartha Hegde jumping off bridge?

Mangaluru, July 30: A video has surfaced in which a fisherman gave information about seeing a man falling into Netravati River on Monday night. It is now believed that it could be Siddhartha Hegde who went missing from here.

The person who gave the information is Simon D’Souza, resident of Ullal. He saw something falling in Netravati River at about 7 pm when he was throwing his net for fishing on Monday evening as he is a fisherman.

While Simon was fishing near sixth pillar of the bridge, he saw something falling down in the river near eighth pillar. Simon immediately came to know that somebody jumped in the river. Simon took his boat to eighth pillar but the person who had jumped in the river was sinking. “The person had already gone deep in the water by the time my boat reached there. Therefore, I was helpless,” he said.

Siddhartha Hegde

Simon D'Souza

However Simon, out of determination, started searching for the person. People in another boat who were approaching there also started searching for the person who jumped. But the person could not be seen as the river is deep in that part.

Simon has rescued several people who had jumped in the river in the past. That includes a police officer and a young girl. Simon had regret when he said that he became helpless in this instance.

In that case who was the person who jumped in the river at 7 pm on Monday evening? Can he be Siddhartha Hegde, the founder of Coffee day, is the suspicion bothering everyone.

Siddhartha Hegde went missing on the same spot from Monday evening. The search operation is on.

Cafe Coffee Day's Siddhartha Hegde goes missing from Mangaluru, last letter to board goes viral

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jul 30: In his last letter addressed to the board of directors and the Cafe Coffee Day family, Siddhartha Hegde, son-in-law of former chief minister (CM) S M Krishna and renowned entrepreneur and founder of Cafe Coffee Day chain of restaurants has expressed his helplessness in various business-related matters.

In his letter, Siddartha Hegde says, "After 37 years, with strong commitment to hardwork, having directly created 30,000 jobs in our companies and their subsidiaries as well as another 20,000 jobs in technology company, where I have been a large shareholder since its founding, I have failed to create the right profitable business model despite my best efforts.

"I would like to say I gave it all. I am very sorry to let down all the people that put their trust in me. I fought for a long time but today I gave up as I could not take any more pressure from one of the private equity partners forcing me to buy back shares, a transaction I had partially completed six months ago by borrowing a large sum of money from a friend. Tremendous pressure from other lenders led me to succumbing to the situation.

"There was a lot of harassment from the previous DG income tax in the form of attaching our shares on two separate occasions to block our Mindtree deal and then taking position of our Coffee Day shares, although the revised returns have been filed by us. This was very unfair and has led to a serious liquidity crunch.

"I sincerely request each of your to be strong and to continue running these businesses with a new management. I am solely responsible for all my mistakes. Every financial transaction is my responsibility. My team, auditors and senior management are totally unaware of my transactions. The law should hold me accountable, as I have withheld this information from everybody, including my family.

"My intention was never to cheat or mislead anybody. I have failed as an entrepreneur. This is my sincere submission. I hope someday you will understand, forgive and pardon me.

"I have enclosed a list of our assets and tentative value of each asset. As seen below, our assets outweigh our liabilities and can help repay everybody,” he stated.

Mangaluru, Jul 30: Siddhartha Hegde, son-in-law of former chief minister (CM), S M Krishna, who happens to be a renowned entrepreneur and founder of Cafe Coffee Day chain of restaurants, went missing under mysterious circumstances. At around 7.30 pm on Monday July 29, he parked his car near Netravati Bridge near the city and then disappeared all of a sudden.

Siddhartha had travelled in an Innova car bearing registration No. KA 03 NC 2592 standing in the name of a private company along with two others. It is said that when leaving Bengaluru, he had told his close ones that he would be visiting Sakleshpur. On the way, he seemed to have changed his mind and asked the driver to move ahead to Mangaluru. When the car reached near Pumpwell, two who had accompanied Siddhartha alighted from the vehicle and went away. Under Siddhartha's instructions, the driver turned the car towards Ullal.

When the car reached near Netravati Bridge, it is said, Siddhartha asked the driver to stop the car. Siddhartha got down from the car and walked on the bridge by foot. He went round the bridge, came back near the car, said that he was walking, and then continued his walk. The driver seated inside the car had seen him moving ahead. By then heavy downpour started and the driver could not see where Siddhartha had headed as his visibility was impaired.

As Siddhartha did not return for a long time, the driver began to search for him and then informed the police about the said mysterious disappearance. The police visited the spot and undertook scrutiny but they could not find out where Siddhartha had gone or whether he met with any unforeseen incident. His disappearance has given rise to curiosity and people of the state are apprehensive at this development.

Sources said that Siddhartha was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans trousers. Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Sasikanth Senthil, senior police officers, fire brigade personnel etc came on the scene at night and undertook investigation. The canine squad put to work reached the middle of the bridge and stopped. As it was dark, the personnel could not conduct search operation in the river, and hence postponed the operation to Tuesday.

The concerned have put into operation boat service and local fishermen to conduct searches inside the river. The police have also been trying to find out the details of the persons with whom Siddhartha spoke or was in contact before he disappeared, to collect detailed information so that they can draw inferences on what would have happened, and concentrate their investigation on those points.

Driver of Siddhartha Hedge, Basavaraj Patil (27) has lodged a complaint regarding the matter at Kankanady police station.

Earlier reports had said that two persons had accompanied Siddhartha in the car and they got down at Pumpwell Circle, but police complaint does not mention anything about the sane.

Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje along with Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel met home minister Amit Shah for central government’s help to trace V G Siddhartha, who is found to be missing since July 29.

Currently, the search operation is in progress. Eight boats are in search. An entire battalion of NDRF, two ships from Coast Guard, Home Guard and fire service personnel, coastal security police, deep divers from karwar and local fisherman community are also involved, informed deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil and police commissioner Sandeep Patil.

“One team led by police sub-inspector CCB Mangaluru has been sent to Bengaluru for enquiry. They will talk to relatives and find out details. They will also visit his office and see if any information can be gathered,” added police commissioner Sandeep Patil.

It is gathered that at around 6 pm he entered the bridge. Last called at 6:05 pm to CFO of Coffee Day. After 6:30 pm, mobile activity reportedly stopped. At 7:55 pm, the car driver called and informed.

Search operation was carried out from 12 midnight to 5:45 am at Ullal bridge. The search team reached Alivebaagilu, Bengre on Tuesday.

PM Modi during 2019 elections blamed Indira Gandhi for declaring emergency India under her rule.

Today India is facing another emergency under PM Modi rule.

Both emergencies are alike to rule India under so called democratic norms.

Current emergency is basically government dictated emergency.

BJP Government -my way or high way
    Politics of Vengence
    Communalism
Getting rid of political opposition parties
Political horse- trading and poaching to bring down elected Governments
    Pushing through legislation without scrutiny
Income tax raids to the extent of driving people to suicides
Most corrupt government fighting public corruption in the name of black money
    Lawlessness, for example lynching
    Cow slaughter ban
    farmer suicides
    Economy in shambles.
Fear of government invasion in privacy matters, Aadhaar fiasco
SC judgements tilted towards political affiliation

Deeply saddened by the unfortunate, untimely, tragic end of an entrepreneur. God alone knows the truth & someday the truth will come out. Let us respect a man who created 30-50,000 jobs and provided daily bread to their families. He did not run away leaving the country and playing hide & seek somewhere else. A thorough Gentleman, lived a simple dignified life and did his best to give back to the society whatever he could, while he was living. How many of us think in those terms? Rather, when we become millionaires, we spend lavishly on our life style, buy high end cars, big bungalows, get into show biz, etc. etc. When you run such a massive business, financial ups & downs are quite normal. But when a person going thru a mental trauma, moral support from the family and friends is the need of the hour. We are not perfect to judge someone’s ability. When someone is facing difficult times, don’t push the person to the extent of a suicidal point. After the person is gone, no matter how much you praise or give media coverage, it’s of no use. Sadly, his life ended just like a common man. The money, the name & fame that he earned, did not come to his rescue, instead took away his precious life … !!!

May Siddhartha’s Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.

In business or in life, ups and downs are very common especially these days due to bad decisions and wrong choices taken by oneself Or due to unforeseen circumstances. Best suggestion is that to take spiritual guidance in these matters. Divine retreat centre Potta is famous for all these issues among Christians, others also visit there or they can follow their own spiritual guides instead of friends.

RIP to the humble honest man who did not have the intention and guts to leave the country and live somewhere, He truly achieved great and responsible for creating thousands of jobs. Salute to him but extreme step was not necessary. Was he a victim of IT excessive pressure? Moreover, a man with simple life and minimum means is happier than the wealthy mighty and dignified man in society as there is nothing to worry about public and private life. I had a lesson when studying, it was about an industrialist in England who had all the wealth and respect of people. The author of the lesson was very envy about the young industrialist who had all the comforts of life, he had enough mills, manufacturing units, people used respect him everywhere moreover he was a young and satisfied man. One fine morning the author got a shocking news that the industrialist is no more as he shot himself and died. No one knows what is going on in others mind and their real situation and poses happy smile when they meet people.

Dear fellow commentators, if you correctly analyze and carefully read the letter, you will clearly know this is a murder or has been pushed in the river. The contents of the letter and well composed and is definitely not the language of and entrepreneur. the letter equally blames the private equity partner, DG income tax and mentioned that he borrowed money from a friend (vital clue) will Siddharth with such a high position in the company write the letter? this is typed by another person. Would he have taken the trouble to write this letter with basic punctuation marks and such formal language?? and on his name letter head (to bury the proof) please re think. Missing shirt is another reason to believe it is not a suicide? at least a piece of shirt would have been stuck to his body. chances are he would have tried to escape from the persons responsible and the shirt would have come off during the struggle to escape and then pushed into the river without the shirt. One is responsible for oneself...

Messages to Maria Julianna of Hungary – 17/18/28 April 2018

    17 April 2018

    ...
“Dear children! Understand that if you want to be saved, you must wait for your Lord as vigilant virgins. You cannot hide from Me. All your thoughts, words, actions have been recorded before you face Me. When Eve and Adam sinned, they hid themselves, but they did not know I had seen them. When Cain killed Abel, he also hid himself, but I saw and called him. Even those who live in sin try to hide from Me, but eventually they all come to light and give Me an account of their lives, because every person at the end of life has a separate judgment. They are not responsible for the mistakes of others, but are for their wrongdoings ― one is responsible for oneself ― and I will only judge his or her life and actions.”

“Those who take my doctrine and turn it to action will be very happy at the Great Warning, which won’t wait long for you. They will see the good things they have done and their good example of life.”

In high tide sea never take anything from river it push back in rapid pace. That's happened good able to trace body near river bed. If it is happened during low tide..body will wash away to sea and difficult to trace after 36 hours as more of big animals are present. It means what told by fishmerman D'souza is absolutely correct. Even nature not given chance for d'souza to rescue the person as done by himself earlier. When we try to grab each and everything without knowledge of anybody when in power..wants to pay double the price to nature...inspite do any rituals to god. This is what normally happens when you mix up unaccounted money with accounted money. Even if you want to pay the delinquent income tax due, you cannot pay by unaccounted money. This is the result of demonetization and strict banking laws which are good for the financial future of India. People who invest the accounted money, seldom have problems and failures. Take an example of western business model. Every penny is accounted and the high stake holders, CEOs and the owners of businesses are enjoying their lives playing golf, vacationing and giving away money for charities. Running away to foreign countries with debt is not a solution. These countries are are noticing the new immigrant migrating with huge wealth. Authorities have start investigating them. EB-5 investment immigrant visa to the USA is under the scanner now.

Cafe Coffee Day is owned by Coffee Day Global, a subsidiary of Coffee Day Enterprises.

As on March 31, 2019, Coffee Day Enterprises' total debt stood at Rs 6,547 crore, two-and-a-half times its networth of Rs 2,529 crore. Its market capitalisation after Wednesday’s closing price stood at Rs 4,732 crore.

For VG Siddhartha, promoter of the Bengaluru-based Coffee Day Enterprises, which runs Café Coffee Day, the primary rationale would be to pare his group’s rising debt. Earlier this year, he sold his roughly 20% stake in the information technology firm Mindtree.

As of March, Cafe Coffee Day had 1,752 cafes and 60,000 vending machines across India. A toehold in India’s Rs 2,500-crore coffee retail market could give Coca-Cola an opportunity to pursue young and aspirational consumers.
Then there’s the question of Coffee Day Enterprise Limited’s debt, which, as on March 31, stood at Rs 6,547 crore, or two-and-a-half times its net worth and also more than its market capitalization. This is a problem even as sales and profits at Café Coffee Day have been growing in the last three years.

Already, there have been reports that as many as 23,000 millionaires have left India since the Modi government’s assumption of power in 2014, with India now standing third in the number of emigrants behind China and Russia. Last year, 5,000 of the “super-rich” left India.

The Coffee-day is struggling business with huge debt. No successful businessman will end his life without any losses. Changing parties won't solve the financial crisis hit hard by the demonetization.

One of the sad end for India's own 'Make in India'.
    Jai Hind

Unfortunately the BJP government will not do that because they have attained mastery on using the tax departments and enforcement agencies to harass opponents and make them switch loyalties. During the UPA the supreme court called the CBI a caged parrot, but now the situation is ten times worse than what it was during the UPA rule. Now the tax and enforcement departments are doing it openly.
If you find any businessman hiding assets or not paying taxes, then he should be fined and all steps taken to recover the taxes, instead of closing down such companies and thereby contributing towards job losses. An independent agency could be established to temporarily take over such defaulting companies and run them and streamline them. Once this is done and after the taxes and the fines have been recovered then the companies could be handed back to the owners and strict vigil kept on them.
Instead our tax authorities are busy shutting down companies specially those which belong to the opponents of the party in power, and at the same time also losing tax incomes and fines. By doing this they think that they are doing a great job.

Is this the message you are giving to all people who are depressed. There are various reasons for depression - Job / money, harassed by goons & powerful people. Fear of Mob lynching, rape etc.

By the grace of God you have not gone through that situation.

A wasted life. A person who commits suicide is a coward.

People like Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Choksi etc etc were smart enough to run away from India but this many opted the easy way "Suicide". Take the example of IMA of 1,500 crores scam now in custody. He used people to promote his business and they got gifts in immovable and movable properties and who suffered the poor and hard working people. He had the guts to surrender before police. In the same way he should have shown guts to face challenges than commit suicide. Doing business in India is risky and needs guts to face challenges, which he failed to do so. His entire life of hardwork got wasted through his suicide. I feel sad but still suicide is not the solution.
