Panaji, Jul 18: In a written reply to a question tabled by Congress MLA Digambar Kamat, Goa tourism minister Manohar Ajgaonkar on Wednesday, during question hour said that some of the taxi operators have a misconception about the process and few taxi union leaders are misguiding them about GoaMiles, the taxi app.

Ajgaonkar said, “However, GTDC along with GoaMiles has been conducting meetings with the taxi operators which is helping them in resolving these issues. As a result of these efforts, almost 1500 taxis have been registered so far with GoaMiles and it is expected that more operators will join in coming days.”

As reported in TOI, the minister said, "GoaMiles app has been instituted to protect the interest of taxi operators and also that of the tourists and passengers. The app promotes transparency in the form of online taxi application and is open to all taxi operators to join and earn more without any discrimination. These technological advances will provide ease of doing business and this system is adopted all over the world and in India too."
