Bengaluru, Jul 15: Bengaluru city police arrested a 22-year-old man for the alleged murder of his father in KG Halli in East Bengaluru on Saturday morning.

The accused Dilip, who is an alcoholic, stabbed his father Mani (48) to death after the latter raised objections on his lifestyle.

According to the police, Dilip was involved in criminal activities and was most of the time in an inebriated state. Mani, a painter by profession, was disappointed that his son is heading on a wrong path.

On Friday, Mani scolded Dilip’s friends and asked them to advise Dilip. In the pretext of advising Dilip, one of his friends took him out. However, the friend who felt insulted on being scolded, slapped Dilip.

An enraged Dilip drank alcohol and returned home on Friday night in an inebriated state. He then picked a quarrel with his father on Friday night. The quarrel continued until Saturday morning and Dilip in a fit of rage stabbed his father in the throat with a kitchen knife.

Mani died on the spot. The neighbours who got alerted due to the commotion informed the police. Dilip has been arrested. Mani’s body is shifted to a local hospital for postmortem.
