Mangaluru: Vicennial celebrations of Catholic Sabha Valencia unit held

Mangaluru, Jul 15: Catholic Sabha Valencia unit celebrated its twenty years of existence on Saturday, July 13 at Valencia Jubliee hall in the evening.

The esteemed guests for the celebration were Aloysius Sequeira dean NITK Suratkal and Rolfy D’Costa, president Catholic Sabha, Mangaluru diocese and Fr James D’Souza, parish priest, presided over the function.

Aloysius Sequeira in his speech applauded Catholic Sabha Valencia unit for their continuous work and efforts. He also encouraged the youth to opt for higher studies and go in for government jobs and settle down in India instead of foreign countries.



Rita Menezes was felicitated for her service in parish council, Catholic Sabha and in the field of social service.

CGS Taccode was also honoured for his service in the field of Literature.

Famous comedians Melwyn (Mellu Valencia), Richard Sequeira (Richa Valencia), Steevan Rodrigues and Vencilla tauro entertained the crowd with their jokes, dance and group singing was also presented by the members.

Merlyn Rego, president, Catholic Sabha Valencia welcomed the gathering. Tressy D’Souza Secretary rendered the vote of thanks.

Program was professionally compèred by ace compere Dolphy Saldanha and Janet Mascarenhas.

Parish priest Fr James D’Souza, assistant parish priest Fr Joswin D’Souza, resident Fr Arun Lobo, Fr William Baraccas, Anil Lobo and Lizzie Pinto, parish council vice president and secretary, episcopal city varado president Patrick Dsouza, Valencia unit president Merlyn Rego and secretary Tressy D’Souza and around 150 people were present for the celebrations.

The programme ended with dinner arranged by Patrao Caterers Valencia.
