Kuwait, Jul 14: Out of the many men of coastal region, who had gone to Kuwait for employment, who got cheated and were in dire straits, two have started their journey back to India on Saturday, July 13.
Abhishek, a resident of Badaje, Manjeshwar and Pankaj of Uttar Pradesh origin are the ones who have left for Mumbai in separate flights from Kuwait. Abhishek left Kuwait at 8.30 pm and Pankaj has left on the 12.30 am flight. NRIs Mohandas Kamath, Raj Bhandary, Alwyn D'Souza and Amitash Prabhu were in the airport to see them off.
Only two people have got the passports now to return to India. However, their visas have not been cancelled. They are returning to the country on leave. If they do not return to Kuwait within six months, their visas will get cancelled automatically. The fate of the others is not yet decided.
The return of the two persons was possible after the intervention of embassy officials and Kuwait resident Mohandas Kamath with the officials of the company. The passports of these two people were not given to 'Shone' for cancellation of visa and that is why they could travel back to India on vacation. However, the passports of all other 32 persons were given to 'Shone' for visa cancellation. So they have to wait till their visa gets cancelled.
Sources have clarified that the passports of the other people will be given back to them on Monday, as Friday was a public holiday in Kuwait.
