Mangaluru: Car rams into bike at Yekkur – Rider dies on spot

Mangaluru, Jul 13: A 30-year-old man died on the spot after a car rammed into his bike near Yekkur on Saturday, July 13.

Harish, a resident of Bajal and a carpenter by profession, was travelling towards Thokkotu. The car behind his bike was also travelling in the same direction.

The accident too place when Harish was trying to take a turn, and the car travelling behind his bike, rammed into his vehicle.

Harish died on the spot.

    In Yekkur, vehicles want to go to Mangalore will come in wrong directions to join at Gorigudda...they avoid a U turn. This make really confusion between Gorigudda and Yekkur junction.
    Also, We can see most of Kerala state vehicles on this highway moving at very high speed and reckless driving. Concerned officials please take necessary actions before it is too late!

    What i have noticed in Mangalore is that 2 wheelers do not look around and change lanes. Their attitude is that they will do as they please and the others have to take care. It does not work like that anywhere else. If you want to be safe you have to take precautions. Once a life is lost thr

    According to the article, "the accident took place when Harish was trying to take a turn..."

    It makes me wonder if either/both the drivers were not paying attention to what the other driver might be up to.

    A driver must pay some attention to the next move of another driver driving closeby.

    For example, someone planning to turn to the left/right, can't just turn - unless/until any other driver in the vicinity has noted the indicator, and sufficiently slowed down.

    Unfortunately, learning to drive/ride does not equate to learning the road use.

    Roads are widened.... But we have to proper design for exit or entrance to the, from the highway. So for records we have so many kilometers of highway built per day and we can only comment...... . RIP Harish...

    It is sad that a life (perhaps the bread-winner of the family) is lost. These kind of accidents are on the increase and it is perhaps essential that the vehicles are checked regularly - especially the breaks by competent people and ensure that the vehicles are road-worthy.

    I join several others in offering my sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
