Mangaluru: PTA annual general body meet held at Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru, Jul 13: The parents and teachers of Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill gathered at the school auditorium on Saturday July 13 for the PTA annual general body meeting.

Dr Ananth Prabhu G, director of Vikas Group of Institutions was chief guest and keynote speaker of the day.

The meeting began with a prayer followed by a graceful welcome dance.

The principal Sr Melissa then welcomed the gathering, quoting that family and school relationship was based on mutual responsibility, respect and trust. Dr Ananth Prabhu G was warmly welcomed by her and he was presented a plant sapling by the PTA vice president Ryan Lobo as well as a memento by the vice principal Sr Lidwyn Pinto AC.



The toppers of class X and XII board exams 2019 and special achievers were honoured with a trophy, a cash prize and flowers by Dr Ananth Prabhu, Sr Marie Lucy AC the joint secretary of the school and other dignitaries.

Dr Ananth Prabhu was introduced by Nisha Albuquerque, the joint secretary of PTA.

The audience paid rapt attention to what he spoke, as his topic was closely related to social media and cyber crime units. He talked about several incidents of crimes through the mobile phone and how these could be prevented. He narrated several cases which he had solved and held the audience spellbound. The session was definitely an eye-opener and very useful, especially as he also gave the preventive measures that one can take to safeguard oneself. He also handed over a copy of the book written by him entitled 'Cyber Safe Girl' to the principal of the school.

The PTA annual report of the academic year 2018-19 was read by the PTA secretary Caroline Mendonca. The audited report of receipts and payments of PTA was presented by Shaila K, the treasurer.

The principal brought to the notice of the parents the new CBSE system of evaluation which gave importance to both curricular and co-curricular activities and urged the parents to encourage their wards to actively participate in all the activities, along with a few other points concerning their wards.

Sr Carissima, the administrator, conducted the elections for the PTA. Another point brought to the attention of the parents was the traffic management near the school. Ryan Lobo, the vice president of the PTA delivered the vote of thanks and Sr Preena AC compered the programme. The meeting concluded with singing of the National Anthem.
