Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School celebrates feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Mangaluru, Jul 13: The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16 commemorates the appearance of Mother Mary on Mount Carmel in Palestine, where she appeared to Simon Stock. This day is also celebrated as Foundation Day of the Apostolic Carmel congregation, which was founded by Mother Veronica, foundress of the Apostolic Carmel in 1868 at Bayonne, France.

The celebration was held at St Agnes CBSE School on July 13 at the school hall. The programme began with a solemn prayer service that highlighted the need to look at Mother Mary as the bridge of communication between God and us.

The chief guest of the occasion was Fr Allwyn Sequeira (OCD). The other dignitaries were Dr Sr Maria Roopa AC, joint secretary; Sr Maria Gracilda AC, principal and Sr Vinitha AC vice principal.




The informative skit by the students of class 10 highlighted the significance and qualities of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The students and teachers prepared a befitting backdrop followed by three dances appropriate to the event which gave a very festive look.

The chief guest Fr Allwyn Sequeira in his message stressed, "We as Carmelites display qualities of perfection and love in all our actions."

The cultural programme was followed by holy mass for Catholic students and staff.

Herchelle Pinto of class 10 welcomed the gathering and Faldrin D'Souza of class V proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme was compered by Sanjana Ravish and Anvitha Shetty of class 9.

The celebration ended with an ice-cream treat.

Carmel Blossoms shared this treat with the students of St Agnes Kannada Medium School.
