Mangaluru, Jul 13: Out of the series of murder cases of young women that are slapped on serial killer Cyanide Mohan, the accusation of killing young, unmarried woman from Paivalike of Kasragod district was proven in the sixth additional district and sessions court. The quantum of punishment will be announced by the court on July 18.

Judge Saidunnisa gave the verdict in this case on Cyanide Mohan on Friday, July 12 and said that the accusations are proven under IPC section 302 (murder), section 328 (administering poison), section 201 (destruction of evidence), section 392 (robbing of golden ornaments) and section 417 (cheating).

Accused Mohan had introduced himself as Sudhakar, an employee of the insurance company to 26-year-old young lady from Paivalike and promised to marry her. He had asked her to come to State Bank of the city wearing golden ornaments. Accordingly, the woman had arrived to State Bank area on March 20, 2006 along with her aunt Parameshwari. All the three had lunch in a hotel at State Bank on that day.

Later, Mohan sent aunt Parameshwari to her home and took the young woman with him to a lodge in Madikeri. He sexually assaulted the girl on that night and said to the young woman that they had to go to the temple the following day and asked her to keep all her gold in the room of the lodge itself. Then he took her to the KSRTC bus stand in Madikeri and told her to take the Cyanide-laced pill saying that it is contraceptive pill. The young woman who had consumed that same in the toilet of the bus stand had collapsed and died instantly. Mohan came back to the lodge and escaped with the gold of the young woman. A case in this regard was registered in the Madikeri police station.

The family members of the deceased lady did not register a missing complaint about her, thinking that she must be living happily with Mohan. Cyanide Mohan was arrested by the police on October 21, 2009. During interrogation, he confessed to the murder of the young woman from Paivalike. Later, the police took him to Manjeshwar police station. There Parameshwari, the aunt of the deceased lady had identified Cyanide Mohan and tried to slap him also.

Fort-one witnesses, 50 documents and 42 circumstantial witnesses were inquired in this case. The goldsmiths, who had purchased the gold of the deceased woman also disposed in front of the judge in the court. However, kidnap and sexual assault was not proven.

Judith O M Crasta had argued for the prosecution. Two women, who fell into the dragnet of serial killer Mohan but survived are the prime witnesses in all the case against the accused Mohan. In addition, the statement of the doctor, lodge personnel and the call details were the main reasons for the proving of Mohan's guilt in this case.

There are 20 cases of murder of young women on the accused Mohan. Five are still pending to be inquired.
