Bantwal, Jul 12: The sand of Netravati river that was obtained through dredging since a month at a distance of 500 meters from the dam, near Talapady was collected in two vast yards according to the instruction of the deputy commissioner of the district. Now the distribution of this sand to the public through Sand Bazaar App has started. More than 500 loads of sand is being dispatched every day. The area of Talapady, where the sand is stocked, has turned into a selling center now.

The sand is being distributed as per the vision of DC Sasikant Senthil. The contract of dredging is given to Nalco Company of Delhi and they have given sub contract to a private company of Mangaluru. CCTV security is provided for the dredging process.

The work of delivering the sand directly from the stock point to the door of the buyer at a reasonable rate, without the middlemen, is being done efficiently. If the public pays the money online after checking the online rate, the sand will reach their door step in time. If the sand is not delivered within the promised date and time, action will be taken against the truck and the contractor.

There is no need to pay separate rent for the vehicle. In addition, the buyer will get the message of the type of vehicle, its registration number and the status of loading on his or her mobile. The Sand Bazaar App is created with the slogan 'Shore to Every Door'. The district administration decides the rate of the sand. Accordingly, the sand will be supplied to the buyers. This is the first such experiment in the state, which is controlled by the Geology and Mines department.

The rate of the sand is fixed at Rs 480 per tonne. All the steps of buying from booking to payment of money is done in a transparent manner through online. At present, the sand is available only at the Talapady stock point. However, it will be available in other places also in future.

Naveen, app development engineer says, "All the details right from booking of the sand, payment, vehicle booking and tracking status of the truck transporting the sand are available on the Sand Bazaar App. This is convenient for the buyer. In addition, information on booking, buyer and location of the sand stock point is available through Google map view."

Sasikant Senthil, DC of Dakshina Kannada district says, "This App is developed to bring transparency and easier execution of sand mining in the district. This App is inaugurated without any publicity. This App will work in three different section of Contractors, Transporters and Citizens."

The Sand Bazaar app is available in Google Play store for 'Permit Holder's and for Vehicle Owners' only. The public version is not available. How come 500 loads of sand is transported? How can public order the sand without the app? Something fishy here?? Can we have links to download the public app, please? While publishing the news if you add the links to such useful apps will be always helpful.
