Sec 144 imposed around Goa assembly complex ahead of monsoon session

Panaji, Jul 9: In view of the monsoon session of Goa Legislative Assembly starting on Monday, the district magistrate of North Goa on Tuesday, imposed section 144. Five or more people are prohibited to assemble within a radius of 500 meter in and around the assembly complex in Porvorim, nor are they allowed to organize any processions.

It is also prohibited to use loudspeakers and shouting slogans in any public place, street, road, square, thoroughfare, bye-lane or in any open space. Carrying of firearms, lathis, swords, daggers or spears at the venue of the meeting has been prohibited.

Special and genuine occasions like marriage and funeral for which prior permission in writing was obtained will not come under the purview of prohibition. Public servants on duty are also exempted from the prohibitions. The district magistrate's order will remain in force till conclusion of the monsoon session on August 9.
