Mangaluru: Yenepoya's Biochemistry dept, NSS hold health, hygiene workshop at Babbukatte govt school

Mangaluru, Jul 9: Department of Biochemistry, Yenepoya Medical College and NSS unit of Yenepoya (deemed to be university) organised a half day workshop on 'Nutrition and healthy practices in children' at Government Higher Primary School, Babbukatte on July 6.

Dr Nivedita L Rao, HOD, department of Biochemistry, presented a talk to the students on the topic using video shows which was followed by an exhibition and demonstration on balanced diet, importance of deworming and hand hygiene by Biochemistry department faculty members Dr Mahalakshmi Pettimani, Dr Greeshma Kotian, Dr Raghavendra U, Mrs Thasleema and MBBS student volunteers.

Free blood glucose testing was conducted for school staff by Dr Shaheen Sheikh. Dry fruits, stationery and health drink sachets were distributed to students of class 8 and 9.

Vijayalaxmi, school headmistress, Suhasini, school advisor and social worker, Dr Ashwini Shetty, NSS coordinator and C S Bhandary, area manager, British Biological were present.
