Mangaluru: PTA meet held at St Aloysius College Higher Primary School

Mangaluru, Jul 8: Parent-Teacher Association meeting provides an opportunity to refine the child's individual learning plan, to make sure the roles of teacher, student and parents are clear and specific and are designed to bring out the best in the child.

The annual general body meeting of the PTA of St Aloysius College Higher Primary School was held on July 6 at the school auditorium.

The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song by the teachers and PTA members followed by welcoming the gathering by the headmistress.

The chief guest of the day, Dr Allwyn D'Sa, associate professor of St Aloysius College was accompanied by the rector – Fr Dionysius Vas SJ, the correspondent Fr Gerald Furtado SJ, Rekha Fernandes, vice president PTA, headmistress, Philomena Lewis, asst headmaster, Liya D souza and Jositta Noronha, secretary of PTA who were present on the dais.

The annual report of the year 2018-19 was presented by the secretary, Jositta Noronha through a Power Point presentation, which updated the activities of the year 2018-19.

The chief guest was introduced by Swathi Praveen.

The chief guest in his address laid emphasis on often encouraging the child rathen than to criticise his qualities in order to build up a good rapport with the child right from early to adolescent stage. He stressed on 'Growing along together with our children' and also emphasised on the challenges they face, to give space and to accompany them at home as teachers are imparting value based education in school in the process of learning.

Dr Allwyn D Sa suggested a few guidelines to the parents to read along with their children, to spend time with them on a routine basis and to give the child a prominent place in their lives. Care should be taken regarding the use of gadgets.

As a token of love, a memento was presented to Dr Allwyn D Sa by the rector.

Jositta Noronha announced the newly elected PTA vice president Arvind Rao for the academic year 2019-20 to the gathering. A power point presentation of the names of the newly elected and existing members was displayed.

As a token of love and appreciation, the outgoing vice president Rekha Fernandes was felicitated with a memento .

The correspondent Fr Gerald Furtado SJ, addressed the parents. He said that the role of parents is very important in the growth of the child. He stressed on giving importance to basic fundamentals like reading, writing and arithmetic.

The rector said co-ordination is very important which will lead the child forward as a better individual.

Arvind Rao expressed words of gratitude and the programme concluded with the National Anthem. The entire programme was compered by Irene Pais and Akshitha Kunder.
