Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 26: It is gathered that MLA H K Kumaraswamy, MLC B M Rafooq, and youth JD(S) president Madhu Bangarappa, are in the race for the post of the state president of the party. The post has fallen vacant due to the resignation of H Vishwanath. Vishwanath has indicated that Madhu's name is ahead of others in the race.

Speaking to media persons at Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday June 25, Vishwanath revealed that he has informed the party leadership that it would be apt to make Madhu Bangarappa the state president of the party. He however, added that he will back any candidate chosen by the top leaders of the party.

Vishwanath said the new president would be appointed in three or four days and that he will give charge to the new president by handing over the party flag. "I will support anyone chosen by the leaders as state president. My personal opinion is that Madhu fits the bill," he explained.

To a question, he said that the current situation does not warrant interim poll. He noted that Deve Gowda has asked the party men to be ready for consolidating the party's organizational set up and not for interim poll.
