Chandigarh, Jun 25: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s parole plea is getting delayed further as Sirsa administration is waiting for reports from concerned departments on the issue. Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg has sought reports from several departments, including revenue and the district police regarding Ram Rahim’s plea seeking 42-day parole.

Since the Dera head is a Sirsa resident, the final decision on the parole application has to be taken by the DC. As per Indian Express report, Garg said, “No decision has yet been taken on the parole application since the reports from concerned departments have not yet reached me.”

It has been a month since Ram Rahim Singh sought parole for farming at his fields in Haryana’s Sirsa. His parole plea was sent to the district authorities by the Rohtak jail administration on June 18.

As per sources Haryana’s jail minister Krishan Panwar said, “Jail Superintendent, in his letter, has mentioned that Gurmeet’s conduct in prison has been good. Sirsa DC shall take a final call based on the reports given by the district police and revenue department.”

The Dera chief was sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping two women in August of 2017. He was also found guilty by a special CBI court for the murder of a journalist over 16 years ago.
