Mangaluru: Man held for obstructing policeman from discharging duties

Mangaluru, Jun 25: A person from Kulai, identified as Taranath, was arrested by Mulky police for obstructing a policeman from discharging his duties at Pavanje near Haleangady.

An agricultural and folklore festival had been organized at Pavanje on Sunday. Omprakash Bingi, a staff of the city (north) police station, was regulating traffic near Pavanje temple. A person had obstructed Bingi from discharging his duties. He also used abusive words against him and escaped after assaulting him.

Mulky police arrested the person concerned, identified as Taranath, the same night and produced him in the court. He was remanded to judicial custody. Mulky police said that his car has also been confiscated.

In the meanwhile, Omprakash Bingi was treated at the primary health centre, Mulky.
