Mangaluru: MLA Dr Bharath Shetty urges police commissioner to banish cattle traffickers

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jun 24: MLA of Mangaluru North legislative constituency, Dr Bharath Shetty has urged Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil to book rowdysheeter case on the illegal cattle stealers and traffickers and banish them from the district.

Dr Bharath Shetty has written a letter in this regard to the Commissioner which says, "Cattle theft has become a way to make easy money without any capital. It is a matter of concern that cow thieves are stealing cows from their shed by brandishing lethal weapons. An incident which occurred recently in Mangaluru North legislative constituency, in which a cow was stolen from a house has pained me.

MLA Dr Bharath Shetty

"People who are dependent on the dairy for their livelihood are incurring loss due to this. The police department has to provide security and assurance to the dairy farmers who buy high breed cows by taking loans in bank. If cow theft is causing loss to the families who are dependent on the income from dairy, it is causing emotional disturbance to the Hindu community, which worships the cow. The time has come for the police department to conduct strict operation to put an end to the menace caused by the cow thieves and thereby maintain harmony in the society of Dakshina Kannada district.

"The illegal slaughter houses that are functioning around the city of Mangaluru have become a blessing to these cow thieves. The stolen cattle is slaughtered in these illegal abattoirs. Such abattoirs have to be identified and action should be taken against those who are running these slaughter houses.

"Severe legal action needs to be taken against those who steal cows and also those who support them. Rowdysheeter case has to be slapped on such people and they need to be exiled from the district itself. Good quality CCTV cameras have to be installed in main traffic junctions and the movement of such thieves needs to be monitored.

"A special meeting of the middlemen, who are into the business of buying cows, need to be held and they have to be warned not to buy cows without proper documents. It is not possible for an out and out stranger to steal the cow from any residential place. There is a possibility that the locals living in the vicinity are passing on the information to cow thieves. Even these people have to be monitored and action needs to be taken against them.

"Inquiry should be conducted of people who buy cow for rearing as to whether they have required licence and also the confirmation letter from a veterinarian. In order to maintain communal harmony, prohibitory order on the transportation of cows, that are legally sold, between 7 pm to 7 am needs to be enforced. A special police patrolling system needs to be implemented to prevent cow theft," said the MLA in the letter.

I think they can not see anything beyond cow! Just for votes! Developments, peoples needs they are blind??? What a pity! Government should appoint a minister for cow and few supporting ministers and rest all should work for people and voters and their needs. Everyone talking about cow is no good!

Many a time what we get in beef market is old, tough meat where we have pressure cook it for 13-15 whistles, otherwise the meat is chewy like chewing gum unless you make mince. Everytime I eat, it sticks in the gaps of my teeth.

Now old tough meat as told to me is usually bought from those people who would have reared the cow for its milk. I do admit some of it might get stolen, but not all. Some of them are bought by the cow dealers.

So here is my simple question. Why sell the God to the butcher in the first place? Why don't they revere the God and donate the cow to the Go shaala? Why make a profit from the God after it's useful life of giving milk? Why doesn't the government make it a crime (punishable by 7 years R.I.) to sell the cow in the first place.

In BJP ruled Bihar more than 150 children' died of encephalitis outbreak in Muzaffarpur and 700 still in the hospital.
The crisis also exposed the lack of health facilities and also poor preparedness of the government in facing such challenges. Meanwhile, a case was filed against the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and his Bihar counterpart Mangal Pandey for 'failing to perform their duties' that led to the death of nearly 150 children in Muzaffarpur.
Dr. Bharath Shetty, being Doctor by profession should have first to volunteer to go to Bihar just like 'Karsevak' to Ayodhya.
After all, why would BJP think about poor dying children's who don't have rights to vote after the election gave landslide victory in Bihar?
The 'Gau Mata' may be divine, there are many 'Matta's' whose own children's are dying of medical negligence.
Mr.Shetty think of humanity first. Cow's trafficking can be curbed if the farmer's plight is addressed and lynching is stopped and consumption legalized.

Sir, For your knowledge there are many Doctors voluntarily working Bihar doing initial counseling camping in villages around the epidemic. As we all know prevention is better than cure, identifying the symptoms may contribute to the early detection of the disease.
As per the many reports emerging, desperate parents had taken the loans from the villagers to treat their children.
A dentist does learn basic medicine in their profession. No dentist can extract the tooth if patients had other complications.
