Udupi, Jun 24: An accidental fire that got ignited inside a motorbike showroom adjacent to the railway station at Indrali here near a petrol bunk at around 9.30 pm on Sunday June 23 burnt down over 11 motorbikes inside the showroom. The loss in the case runs into lacs of rupees.
The fire spread to the showroom of motor bikes located at the bottom of the building. Because of the fire, the entire region got enveloped by thick smoke.
The building in question houses Jaidev Motor Zone, Vinyas Academy, A gym and a dental clinic. Although a petrol bunk is located a little distance from the building luckily the fire did not spread to the bunk.
Cause behind the fire accident was not known immediately. Power supply in the area was severed because of fire. The fire brigade personnel from the city rushed to the spot and tried their best to douse the fire. As water in the tanker had been spent, the staff arranged to douse the fire. No danger to life was reported.
