Udupi: Two cattle theft-accused arrested, six evade police action

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jun 24: The police have succeeded in arresting two persons, Abdul Rahiman from Venoor, and Dharmesh from Chara, on Sunday June 23. They have been accused of stealing three cows belonging to Gopal Naik from Kuchchoor Sallekatte near Hebri on the night of June 19. The stolen cattle were worth about Rs 45,000.

A police team led by Mahabala Shetty, Hebri station house officer, under the guidance of assistant superintendent of police, Krishna Kanth, and circle inspector, Halamurthy, had been relentlessly trying to crack this case. The police stated that out of eight members of the gang of thieves, six have succeeded in avoiding arrests. They said they are continuing with their efforts to trace them.

The police have impounded a pick-up vehicle used for transporting the stolen cattle. The family of Gopal Naik, which entirely depended on income derived from dairying for a living, is in dire straits now as two out of their cows stolen were milking.

The police, in the meantime, have expressed suspicion about the cattle thieves getting support from some locals. They feel that these locals might be conveying information about the cattle sheds having easy access to cattle thieves. The increasing number of cattle thefts in Hebri region has also become a nightmare for the police.

The police have arranged special night beats in important roads around Hebri and they have asked people to convey to them information about suspicious movement or activities in the region.

Mr "SAD" win and Rajesh I clearly mentioned "as far as it is legal".
I am totally against any theft and that include your COW god.
I said cow cow bow bow is the issue that chaddi gang has created for political gains which is then carried forward by agents like you through out the year.
The underlying issue is "POVERTY" as you mentioned and cow is just for political agenda.
More than half the hindu population munch cow meat with parata in India.

It is long suspected that Hindus are involved in cattle theft or facilitating for thefts as return is very high. But fascist organs & police dept is focusing only on transporters who are mostly from minority community. Near past case of accident while transporting cattle is not solved till now, why? You have the truck used, it passed a manned check post...but case puska??? can someone shed light?? Truth is not politically convenient???

Mr. Rajesh when poverty is such a big issue you and your chaddi party should focus and work to eradicate it than protecting COW for political gains.
Cow is for human consumption no one can stop us from eating as far as its legal.
Cow theft is also done with the help of saffron brigade.

Dharmesh is not from minority community.

Taking care of family by stealing others bread, this is been going on for years now, why cannot we give sermon on this in the church, temple and Masjid. What is holding you back?

If the culprit is caught red handed and roughed up by the public then the whole group of people will come out to support the culprit & shows sympathy. Where as No sympathy is shown towards the farmer who bought the cows on loan.

read the article fully. Dharmesh is the agent who is helping these cow thieves to steal.

The article also says that locals are suspecting that some one in the neighbour hood are informing the thieves the exact address of the houses where these cows are there!! And they are definitely not from the minority community.

Hope you understand the petta commission business. Only the one who steals is caught but not the informer!! jai Hind

the informer may say anything why these cow thieves should do that illegal activity. don't he has brain? whether god will accept the stealing of those poor farmers cow? please note that there is no good terrorist or bad terrorist & like that thieves are thieves . he might have stolen the ornament or cow both are same. we should not support them even.

I am not supporting but just gave clarification to the question posed by the reader.
Both Hindus and Muslims are involved in this business. Only when the transporters are caught the blame goes on them.
What this thieves are doing is definitely not correct. At the same time, what the agents are doing is also not right!!
