Bengaluru, Jun 22: It is gathered that All India Congress Committee president, Rahul Gandhi, has instructed chairman of the coalition coordination committee, Siddaramaiah to ensure that legislators who have the capacity to win elections on the basis of their own charisma do no leave the party to join the BJP at any cost.
Rahul spoke to Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, too relating to the appointment of chairpersons for corporations and boards from out of the quota earmarked for the Congress. After these talks, Dr K Sudhakar and Venkataramanayya of the Congress, whose appointments had earlier been kept on the backburner, were cleared. It is gathered that appointments of chairpersons to over 30 corporations and boards that are under Congress quota would be done soon.
Rahul is said to have told Siddaramaiah that the government should be saved at any cost, and at the same time, legislators like Ramesh Jarkiholi and B C Patil should be convinced to stay with the party. When water resources minister D K Shivakumar met Rahul, he too was given a similar advice. It is gathered that Shivakumar has been given the responsibility of stopping Ballari legislators Nagendra, Bheema Naik, Anand Singh etc from stepping out of the party.
As former Prime Minister, H D Deve Gowda, has come to know about the discussions held during the meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Siddaramaiah, he has begun the work of strengthening his party. He has given the post of chairman of Satellite Township Ring Road Authority to Nisarga Narayanaswamy and asked Kumaraswamy to appoint five legislators and five former legislators as heads of boards and corporations.
Former minister, Cheluvarayaswamy, said that no one wants interim poll and JD(S) has a chance to correct its behaviour so that it gets a chance to carry on with the current government. He said that Deve Gowda's words should be taken seriously and that the angry words uttered by Basavaraj Horatti and H Vishwanath need to be studied as they contain sensitive issues.
