Daijiworld Media Network (SR)

Jamnagar (Gujarat), Jun 20: A Gujarat court on Thursday, June 20, sentenced sacked IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt to life imprisonment in a three-decade old custodial death case of a 30-year-old man.

The aforementioned case happened in 1990. Bhatt arrested 133 people on charges of rioting in the backdrop of BJP leader LK Advani’s Rath Yatra in Jamnagar. Prabhudas Vaishnani, one of the arrested men, was thrashed in custody who later succumbed to his injuries.

The court has not yet revealed the quantum of sentence given for six other policemen convicted in the case.

Bhatt was suspended in 2011 on charges of remaining absent from duty without permission and misuse of official vehicles and was later arrested in August 2015. Bhatt has been in news for all the wrong reasons and was also been in trial in a drugs related case. He was in spotlight for testifying against the then chief minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Sanjiv Bhatt earned the ire of the then chief minister Narendra Modi when he testified against the latter for his alleged role in the 2002 anti-Muslim pogrom.

As ASP in Jamnagar, Bhatt detained over 100 persons to contain a communal conflagration during L.K. Advani’s infamous Rath Yatra in Nov 1990. One Prabhudas Vaishnani later died in a hospital

Bhatt claimed that at this meeting Modi allegedly instructed top police officials to allow Hindu mobs to vent their anger on Muslims in wake of the Godhra train burning incident. He also claimed that Modi paid no heed to concerns about allowing the bodies of the victims to be carried in processions lest it lead to inciting communal violence.

Bhatt was serving at the time as the Deputy Commissioner in the State Intelligence Bureau. Bhatt claims he was asked to attend the meeting by the state Control Room because his immediate superior GC Raigar, who was the Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) was on leave that day.
In another hand, Gujarat IPS officer G L Singhal, key accused in Ishrat Jahan case gets promoted. He was granted default bail after the central probe agency didn't file charge sheet in the stipulated time.
In another case, Gujarat cadre IPS officer RS Bhagora, convicted in the 2002 Bilkis Bano case, was dismissed from service by the Union Home Ministry on May 30, a day before his retirement. IPS officer Y C Modi, who was part of the Supreme Court appointed Special Investigation team that probed the 2002 Gujarat riots as additional Director of the CBI. YC Modi, who gave clean chit to @narendramodi in 2002 Gulbarg Society massacre in which 69 people were killed Modi, whose father has been an RSS Pracharak.
    1. Is Sanjiv Bhatt paying the price for testifying against PM Modi in 2002 riots?
    2. Ex-IPS Sanjiv Bhatt sentenced to life for custodial death while quelling the communal riot?

Let the whole world know that there is no democracy in India. Whoever dares to be critical of the current government and the leaders will be destroyed. This is an example so that nobody not even the media will have the guts to question any wrong doings from the government. This is beginning of despotism in India and very little can be done by the opposition.

Don't worry Sanjeev Bhat, you will get justice by higher court.
We all know you spoke the truth and paying the price for speaking the truth of 2002 incident against the CM of that time, who is now PM.

As long as God is real he will provide you justice and the perpetrators will be punished with humiliation by one or the other means.

Shame Shame. Courts have been hijacked by the ruling power. Utmost corruption.

Rakesh, there are various contradictory reports on train burning. A special team which investigated reported "the train compartment door was locked from inside, the venue was open to public for 2 months which could have been easily utilised to destroy the evidence, the report also clearly mentioned it was impossible to burn a compartment in such a short time by throwing kerosene bottle from outside into the locked door. There are many things the report has said but can't remember all.
But as we all know jiska power usi ka kanoon.

Even if it was attacked by the others from outside, still it is not justifiable to massacre entire state for the sins of others. Innocents blood will not go in vain. There is a Court of Lord which is powerful than any humans court. After all the punishment here in this world could be life time or a death, but in the sight of God the punishment is never ending as there is no death. That would be the real justice for all criminals.

We all know how Babu Bajrangi boasted in a sting operation video saying "We were said we have only 3 days before central forces such as military deployed, play one day in these 3 days."

"All IPS officials should learn to work neutral without any pressure from politicians."

By neutral you mean against congress?
I wonder why they waited 3 decades and 2nd term to do the sentencing.

And yes he is very much alive because otherwise the fingers would directly point to the perpetrator; of course you know who.

Just a stark reminder at the cycle of life...…..Hitlers came and they went out the wrong way....
