Wash my lunchbox: Air India pilot orders crew, fight ensues on board

Daijiworld Media Network (SR)

New Delhi, Jun 19: In a shameful incident, Air India has de-rostered the captain and a crew member of a Bengaluru-Delhi flight AI 772 for fighting in front of passengers on-board, on Monday.

Sources said the argument started when the captian asked the crew member to wash his tiffin box.

Confirming the incident, an Air India official said that they have already launched an investigation and issued summons to the crew members for questioning.

A senior cabin crew member, as per TOI report, said, “AI pilots often bring home tiffin boxes on board and ask crew to heat and serve that meal. There are often requests from pilots asking crew to chop onion, roast almonds and cashews in honey and make cheese toasts and fruit salad. All this must stop as cabin crew are on board for passenger service and safety and are not personal cooks of pilots.”

The matter has also been reported to the aviation regulator, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Not really surprised. Majority of us indians still have feudal mindset. This pilot exhibited the same. He should be suspended for his unaccebtable behavior.

The crew seems to be South Indian and the captain seems to be North Indian who treats the former as cultureless and thus, can say anything to him/her.

Exactly my thoughts. I seen the northern people behavior pattern, worked with them in industry in India. they don't adjust at all or at least be friendly in most cases.

Maharaja culture of AI for it's Crew and staffers and also to all politicians and their families and finally pakodas for passengers. Going great...it's high time that AI is either privatised fully or shut down to save tax payers money.

What a ridiculous pilot? He has no authority to ask the crew to wash his lunchbox. That is not the part of his duty and action should be taken against the pilot
