Bengaluru, Jun 18: Though independent MLAs R Shankar and H Nagesh were inducted as new ministers in the state cabinet four days ago, no portfolio is allotted them till now. They have taken oath as ministers in the ceremony that took place at Rajbhavan on Friday, June 14.
No reason is cited for the inordinate delay in allotting portfolio to both the newly inducted ministers. It was being heard that Shankar will be given the Municipal administration and Nagesh will be allotted the primary and high school education portfolio. However, now it is being learnt that there might be some changes to this initial plan. The sources of CM office say that, in any case, portfolio will be allotted in another two days.
The expectation of portfolio allotment on Friday itself did not happen as CM Kumaraswamy went to Delhi on the same night. It could have been done on Saturday also. But it was not done for reasons not known.
Kumaraswamy returned from Delhi on Sunday. He took the decision of transferring police officers and sent out an order to that effect also. But the portfolio allotment of the newly inducted ministers was not given any priority. On Monday, Kumaraswamy met people in 'Janata Darshan' in his own constituency of Channapatna, which is likely to be continued on Tuesday.
It is said that the portfolios may be allotted on the evening of Tuesday or on Wednesday.
