Mandya: Farmer ends life - Records suicide on mobile phone

Mandya, Jun 18: A farmer from the taluk hanged himself near his agricultural field at Aghalaya village in K R Pet taluk on account of failure of crop caused by drought situation. In a selfie video recorded during the last minutes of his life, the farmer requested the chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, to fill agricultural ponds in Santhebachahalli revenue division which covers his village.

Suresh (50) from Aghalaya village took this extreme step. He had raised huge loans running into laces of rupees, and water shortage had inflicted heavy losses, it is said. Distraught by this situation, he created a selfie video when ending his life.

 

The fact that he had captured his last moments on video came to the knowledge of others after the family members came home after performing his funeral and then switched his cell phone on.
