Bengaluru, Jun 18: Four people died and eight sustained grievous injuries after the auto rickshaw they were travelling in collided head-on with a bus in Vishwanathapura here on Monday, June 17.

The deceased have been identified as Haseena Taj (35), her daughters Sadia (8) and Saniya (17), and their neighbour, Zoya (5), all residents of Bitappanahalli in Hoskote taluk.

The accident happened along the Devanahalli-Doddaballapura NH-207 road near Vishwanathapura around 10.15 am. 12 people, belonging to two families and who were neighbours, were travelling in the auto rickshaw.

They had gone to the district commissioner's office to make changes in their Aadhaar cards and were asked to come back on Tuesday. They were returning home when the accident happened. Naseema's husband Yaarab was riding the auto rickshaw. The over-speeding private bus was coming from Devanahalli and heading towards Doddaballapura.

The impact of the collision was so bad the auto rickshaw was crushed and four of the passengers were killed instantly.

Eight were shifted in ambulances to the Devanahalli government hospital.

Vishwanathapura police are investigating. The driver of the bus has been booked for rash and negligent driving. Police have launched a manhunt for him, who has been absconding since the accident.

Terribly sad to hear of the case.

Agree, the fault might be that of the bus.

But am wondering how could a responsible man, driving the rickshaw, have 12 people on board?

12 people in a single rickshaw when it is designed to have just two passengers other than the driver?
