Udupi: Raghupati Bhat moots 24-hour water supply to villages

Udupi, Jun 16: Local MLA, Rathupati Bat, opined that an exhaustive plan to fully utilize the water resources that are available aplenty in this assembly constituency, should be drawn up.

He was speaking at the meeting of the district committee of water supply and sanitation mission which was held here on Saturday June 15 at the auditorium of the zilla panchayat. "Currently water from River Swarna is being purified and supplied to this city from Baje dam. There is a plan to treat the water from River Varahi at Bharatkal and supply the same to this constituency. With this, it is proposed to see that water supply is maintained in my entire constituency throughout without any break," he explained.

Zilla panchayat chief executive officer, Sindhu B Rupesh, instructed he officials to prepare proposals for projects based on amounts allocated to every taluk for the year 2019 - 20 under Rural Drinking Water Spply Action Plan and submit the same before the 18th of this month.

Zilla panchayat president, Dinakar Babu, vice president, Sheela K Shetty, and chief project officer, Srinivas Rao were present.
