Udupi, Jun 16: The road widening work on Udupi-Manipal national highway is becoming a death threat to riders and commuters. This work has already claimed many lives in the form of accidents.

Now, an electrical pole in middle of the road, near Syndicate Circle, is an addition to the already deadly road.

The old Syndicate Circle is a junction and vehicles from all the four sides arrive at this point unaware of the electrical pole. The commuters risk their lives to travel on this road. The extension work of the road is also undergoing in other end.

It is more difficult during the night time, as there is no sign board to warn about the existence of this electrical pole.

The public have demanded the concerned authorities to look into this issue and take necessary action.

Don't worry. The pole will be removed automatically by one of the vehicles driving on this stretch of road. Thus saving the contractor/ NHAI/ electricity department the expenses of carrying out the job.

Horrible road works on Udupi-Manipal road.....worse than Somalia
The channel for water passage on either side of road is a joke...hardly any water flows thro it because th holes for water entry are filled with mud...all slush everywhere. Water and mud is freely mixing and creating slippery conditions

what a pathetic state of our country. People vote for Modi and not for local representatives and also tell the same openly. So the local rep is cool and is not working.

    Let us all chant Modi...Modi...Modi...Tuk..Tuk..

But MESCOM is! There are several dozen examples in Udupi district alone where electricity department has played mischief by not replacing poles on the roads eating some space of road and accident prone! Live example of worst coordination between Mescom and PWD!
