Panaji: Two arrested for raping woman, throwing her out of car at Miramar

Panaji, Jun 14: Police on Thursday arrested two men for raping a 40-year-old woman friend in a car and then throwing her on the road near Miramar beach here.

Panaji police inspector Sudesh Naik said that two men – Gautam Raikar (25) and Sarvesh Kauthankar (24) were arrested after a 40-year-old woman complained that she was raped and thrown on the road alongside Miramar beach by them.

The woman has been severely injured and is admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital near here for treatment.

Naik said that the boys who hail from Curchorem village of South Goa had come to Panaji along with the woman on a long drive.

As per the complaint, she was raped at an isolated spot, inside the car and then thrown out from the car at Miramar beach area.

Police have arrested both the accused under section 376 (gang rape), 504 (insult), 323 (causing hurt), 325 (grievous hurt) and 354 (outraging modesty) of Indian Penal Code.
