Mangaluru: Anjana murder - Accused says he had married her at temple

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 10: Sandeep Rathod (24) alias Sandeep Balappa Rathod from Sindagi in Vijayapura district, who has been accused of killing a student, Anjana Vasista (22) in a rented room at Attavar here on Friday last, was brought to the city on Sunday, June 9. The police led him to the spot of murder as part of the inquest proceedings.

On being produced at the residence of the judicial magistrate, he was remanded to judicial custody.

Sandeep has claimed that he got introduced to Anjana on Facebook during July, 2018. "We got acquainted with each other and soon it turned into mutual love. We met often at Mangaluru and wanted to marry. She told me later that her family has found a suitable life partner for her and asked me to forget her. On this issue, we quarreled and in a fit of rage accidentally she got killed," he told the police during this period.

The two had come to the city to undergo trainings and had decided in advance to stay together. However, at the last minute, she was convinced of her family's choice and decided to marry the boy of their choice, which angered Sandeep and resulted in this murder, it has transpired.

Sandeep, who was arrested from Sangam Deluxe lodge at Sindagi, has claimed that he and Anjana had married at Kadri temple here, but no one else knew about it. Later, they had stayed in lodges and developed physical relationship, it is said.

Sex before marriage should not be considered as taboo.
Attraction is natural and could lead to sex.. live in relation is the new gen requirement as leading a married life is too stressful and 95% of the time has both partners live in utter misery.

Girl or boy should no more insist on marriage..its utterly foolish..
The society is crazy ..dont fall prey ..even our parents are from the same retarded society and their thoughts too are blinded by the social norms.
Good luck to the courageous ones.
RIP to the girl who got killed for trivial reasons ..our life is worth more than sex or marriage.

Whatever the story, he should not have killed. If his story is to be believed, the girls is also at fault... why dint she think twice before developing physical relation with a unknown guy. How could she cheat him...
How come she did not think of her parents before getting married or having physical relation with the guy.. why do girls go to such extreme.... why dont they understand that not everyone can be believed or they should not cross certain limit...
The guy in other hand should also have thought that its her choice to remain with him or leave him. If he leaves him and go for some one then she is not worth him... why had he to kill her.... a great loss for parents who believed in her and took care of her from childhood

How can the marriage take place in temple without any documents /proof ? How can they allowed to marry without parent's consent.
The marriages conducted without the proper documents and recorded in government records should not be considered as legal marriage

There are two points which we should note

    1. The accused has been alleged to have committed a crime and the victim was not aware of his purpose as he trusted him. An educated person has done this and we cannot trust even a educated person. He has to be punished for the crime.

    2. The victim if careful, could have avoided this situation is the question? We do not know the facts. May be she was duped to accompany the accused. If she was double minded about her marriage she should have avoided going with this accused. One thing is sure, we have to try our best to protect ourselves.

Do temples marry a couple without their parents present ? What happens to Gotra/Caste in such cases ? What ensures that the marriage is for life time ?

How come not even a photograph is available as a proof of their marriage ?

Why this respect for the tradition of your forefathers not shown to the girl yesterday ? Wasn't she pestered for being the cause for the man to murdered her ? A murder is alright, but a girl's wish to have a groom of her choice is intolerable ? What is left now ? A murderer alive but a precious life lost ?

Exactly... Jenn... She is the one who knows his character best. She should marry him never mind however cruel he is but she has no freedom to deny him...

strange phenomenon..whereas men can enjoy with any number of ladies after marriage also! If questions this either divorce or murder or so called legal husband only spoil the name in the society ... Even in temples also, they give certificate if they are really married..

Why this man got married in kadri temple and spoil the purity of that temple by mentioning it? .. He didn't have gutts to marry his own native place? Why he didn't inform his parents?? This Rathod had made this young girl "Bali ka bakra.." after murder, why did he remove kariamani from her neck and roaming with it? To make another facebook Bali ka bakra?? Love for her gold and money not for her.. .

Cast/Gothra are not relevant in Love Marriage and this is not uncommon nowadays. When there are non-agreements of families, couples elope and get married in Temples/private ceremony's and call it a marriage which is legally not valid. In a way, they just want to call themselves married couple before starting on the physical relationship which is nowadays again a casual thing between youngsters, Just like having a glass of beer with friends, people initiate relationships... and end it the next day/week or the month. There is no emotion just a give and take agreements... I guess the new ERA of the broad-minded people and generation.!
