Doha: QS Tec win Div II 25th Gulf Incon Metabo Ramadan Cricket Tournament

Doha, May 27: QS Tec defeated Serandib by 3 runs in a nail biting finish of the Division II Final of the 25th Gulf Incon Metabo Ramadan Cricket Tournament 2019 to lift the Winners’ trophy.

On winning the toss, QS Tec elected to bat first. QS Tec started cautiously and scored at a rate of 9 runs per over in the powerplay for the loss of 1 wicket. Farhan Sr. scored for QS Tec during the powerplay and ended up scoring 17 runs in his mandatory 12 ball quota.

Serandib rocked QS Tec by taking 2 quick wickets in the 4th and 5th overs of the innings. Serandib bowled good lines in the middle overs and restricted QS Tec from scoring quickly. QS Tec managed only 27 runs from 4th over to end of 9th over only losing 2 wickets in the middle over period. Farhan Jr and Fouzan then turned the fortunes of QS Tec in the last 3 overs by scoring 49 runs. Fouzan hammered 12th over bowled by Milan for 20 runs in 4 deliveries and gave QS Tec a fighting total in the end.



QS Tec finally scored 103 for loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 12 overs. Fouzan top scored with 29 runs in his allotted 12 balls with 2 6's and 3 4's. Farhan Sr. and Farhan Jr. contributed with 17 runs and 15 runs respectively.

For Serandib, Chanaka, Mafaz and Chamara took a wicket each.

In reply, Serandib started with a bang and scored 19 runs at the end of first over with Chanaka scoring 17 runs. Haleem bowling 2nd over for QS Tec. then turned the match by claiming 3 wickets in the 2nd over of the match. He removed the openers in consecutive balls and ended the over by claiming Sernadib Captain. Serandib at the end of mandatory powerplay could only score 29 runs but lost 3 wickets. Thereafter bowlers of QS Tec bowled economically and never allowed Serandib batsman to score freely. Run rate started increasing and Serandib batsman with help of 16 run 12th over could end up with 100 runs for loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 12 overs.

Chanaka, Serandib opening batsman top scored with 17 runs in 12 balls with 2 sixes and 1 four. Mafaz and Nifros contributed by scoring 15 runs each. Haleem of QS Tec took 4 wickets for 16 runs.

For his match turning bowling performance, Haleem from QS Tec was declared Man of the Finals.

Best Bowler – Firdous of Alliance
Best All Rounder – Farhan Jr of QS Tec
Best Wicket Keeper – Mafaz of Serandib

At the prize distribution ceremony, Sajjad Ahmed Khan- senior manager Sales and Marketing, Metabo / Gulf Incon along with Rajkumar Selvarajan, Credit / Inventory controller, Ramesh Natarajan, deputy accounts manager and Vincent Vimaldas, product manager, Tools & Equipment were present. Guests of honour were Shahid Mehboob, QCA national coach appointed by Asian Cricket Council, Gul Khan, QCA Head of Domestic Cricket, Tahir Mehmood and Naseen, QCA official umpires and Qatar Veterans Cricket officials distributed the winners, runners-up trophies and over 250 prizes.

Special thanks was acknowledged to Adnan Al Mannai, managing director Gulf Incon and Marcel Cenia, general manager, Metabo Middle East and Prateek Yadav, Metabo business development manager.

All spectators were treated to free snacks, juices and tea plus all participated in the complimentary lucky draw.
