Panaji, May 25: IAS officer Shella N Marak, who served as an election observer, met with a car accident on Friday morning near Hotel Mandovi in Panaji. The accident took place around 7.45am when Marak was on her morning walk.

She is currently undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC) and hospital.

PI Sudesh Naik told TOI that a four-wheeler was proceeding towards the Panaji market while another car from the opposite direction was crossing the road to proceed towards a lane in front of SBI when they collided. He added that there was an ambulance at the spot and Marak was immediately shifted to GMC.

“It was when the victim’s liaison officer started searching for her that the police came to know she was an election observer,” said Naik.

Police have registered an accident case against both four-wheelers.
