'2019 election was like a pilgrimage for me,' PM Modi

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (SR)

New Delhi, May 22: During a meeting with the members of Council of Ministers on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said 2019 election was like a 'pilgrimage' for him.

As per ANI source, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, "PM Modi said that he has seen many elections, but this election's campaign did not seem like a campaign. He said it was like a pilgrimage for him. Terming the completion of the NDA government's tenure as a successful experiment, PM Modi said the alliance should be further strengthened.”

It is said that PM Modi congratulated his ministerial colleagues, during the 2-hour long meeting that was attended by all the ministers, for successfully working as a team for the last five years.

Affirming his confidence on winning the election, Union Minister and SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur said, "We are 110 per cent forming the next government. The opposition is staring at their defeat."

Denying the allegations regarding electronic voting machines (EVMs), Kaur said, "When they won the Assembly polls in three states EVMs were good for them, but when the exit polls have shown their defeat, they have started blaming EVMs."

Modi could very well win this election too. The exit polls predict a clear majority for him and this might come true too. But this doesn't mean it is a victory for any good work done by him or his party. The majority of the people here in India are illiterate and for them what matters is their God. Modi has been projected to them as their God and they have been fed with the belief that Modi and Modi alone can rescue them from their difficulties. Just a few days back, I was in a playful mood with a 6 year old child who happens to stay close to my house. I wanted to see what was in her mind and told her that I belong to the Muslim community. The child is too young to understand the religion I belong to. But when I told her that I am a Muslim, without batting an eyelid she quipped, 'Then you have to go to Pakistan.' Although not entirely surprised, I was sad to hear this. I thought to myself, who has poisoned this innocent child's mind? Kids are being injected with this idea about Hinduvta and that Modi is their saviour and this country belongs only to Hindus. When small children are being fed this hatred, is it any wonder that they will grow up hating people from communities other than their own? This groundwork has already been accomplished and with this backdrop, it won't be very difficult to project Modi as their only person who can work wonders for them. True but very sad.
