Permanent residency system for expats launched in UAE with 'Golden Card'

Daijiworld Media Network (SR)

Dubai, May 22: In a unique initiative, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Tuesday launched a permanent residency scheme for investors, exceptional professionals in various areas including medicine, engineering, and science in UAE.

In a tweet, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, “We launched a new 'Golden Card' system to grant permanent residency to investors and exceptional doctors, engineers, scientists and artists. The first batch of 6,800 investors with Dh100 billion worth of investments will be granted the 'Golden Card'.”

He also said, “The permanent residency 'Golden Card' will be granted to exceptional talents and everyone who positively contributes to the success story of the UAE. We want them to be permanent partners in our journey. Residents are an indispensable part of our country.”

CEO of Allsopp & Allsopp Lewis Allsopp said, “The move will have a positive impact on the local property market and it allows expats to look at Dubai as a home rather than a temporary plan. Most expats have a money-making mindset when they move to Dubai with a short-term plan and goal before moving back to their home country.”

Maj Gen Al Rashedi said the measures will attract highly skilled expats and investors from around the world to make the UAE a centre for knowledge and global investment. The decision aims to maintain the position of the UAE as an optimal business environment.

USA is the best place on the earth for investments. Foreign nationals can get EB-5 (immigrant visa) by investing $500,000 to $1,000,000 without borrowing. Certain conditions apply. Their immediate family can also immigrate along with the them. The entire family is eligible for US citizenship after certain years of stay in the US.

Better you ask people of your community first. They will be eager to not go but run!!

You are forgetting that UAE and India have Extradition Treaty in place.

The country (UAE) is following strict discipline. An offender outside can be an offender at home too. Therefore, your suggestion needs to be contemplated upon for pertinent individuals.

Salute to you Highness. A great human being full of love and forward thinking not only for your country but for all the expats living in your nation.

One person like you will make a big difference to any country.

I have spent 14 years in Dubai and today if my financial position is good is only by the earning what I have made in your country. I worked for 10 years in India but could not save anything. All went to tax.

    Long Live Sheikh Mohammed.

"but with regard to citizenship, will it be available for people spending all their work life there ? ? "

Where is a word 'citizenship' in the news ?? The offer is lifetime residency. You will still be called an Indian, Paki, or any other national but your residency status is till your death.

I suppose one cannot hold two citizenship, so if you are a permanent resident in any country abroad. You automatically loose your citizenship rights in India.

UAE is a disciplined, clean, tolerant, country with value for hardwork and no religion and corruption politics good for those who get permanent residency in UAE.
