Mangaluru: Nomination withdrawals over - 120 candidates for Moodbidri, Mulky local bodies

Mangaluru, May 20: Election is being held for 23 wards in the town on May 29. Out of 85 candidates who had filed their nominations for the election, eight withdrew their candidatures on Monday, which happened to be the last day for the withdrawal of nominations. A total of 77 candidates including candidates of BJP, Congress, JD(S), CPM and SDPI have remained in the final fray.

In Mulky town panchayat, for which also the election will be held on May 29 , 43 candidates are in the final fight. On Monday, the last date for withdrawal of nominations, three persons withdrew their nominations.

The election will be held in six schools on May 29 and counting will take place on May 31 at the community hall here. At 1 pm on May 24, electronic voting machine demonstration will be held.
