Mumbai, May 21: A 20-year-old mentally challenged woman was allegedly raped several times by an unidentified man in Palghar district of Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.

The offence came to light some days back when the woman complained of stomachache for which her parents took her to a hospital where doctors found her pregnant.

Police said that over the past two months the victim was raped multiple times when her parents who are labourers went to work. The man used to lure the victim with biscuits and chocolates.

The victim has not yet been able to identify the accused said the official. The woman's parents on Monday lodged a complaint following which the police registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections for rape, he said. The accused is on the run and efforts are on to identify and trace him.
