Mangaluru: SIT emerges champion in VTU inter-collegiate zonal Kabaddi tournament

Mangaluru, May 15: The VTU Inter-Collegiate Mangaluru Zone Kabaddi Tournament hosted by Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT), Mangaluru was held on April 29 and 30 at SIT ground.

The tournament was inaugurated by the chief guest of the function Jagadeesh Kumble, gold medallist Asian Games Kabaddi and Pro Kabaddi coach for Telugu Titans by lighting the lamp. In his inaugural address to the gathering, he stressed upon the importance of sports for the mental and physical fitness. He wished the players good luck in the tournament. He was also accompanied with our guests of honour Vishal Bharadwaj and Rajaneesh who are the star players of Telugu Titans.

The principal of the college Dr Srinivasa Mayya D presided over the function and motivated the participants through his encouraging words. At the end of inaugural function the chief guest and the guests of honour were felicitated by the president of the function Dr Srinivasa Mayya D.

Twelve teams from various colleges participated in the tournament. The final match was played between Srinivas Institute of Technology and Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, Moodbidri, in which Srinivas institute of Technology emerged as winner with 38-19 lead and got qualified for the next level. Prizes were distributed to winners and runners-up by Dr. Shivakumar G S, vice principal and head of CSE department in the valedictory function.
