Congratulations, Melwyn. Just this morning I sent an email to your predecessor Herman Pinto and wondered if he got it. In any case, since you are the current president, I am sending the contents of that e,mail to you. About 9 months ago I independently published a book for beginners who want to learn Konkani through English without having to learn an indigenous script such as Kannada. Konkani is in Roman script. The book has a Text with rules of pronunciation for Konkani words, basic Grammar, a dozewn elementary exercises one page each interlined with English translation, and English tales and fables with Konkani translation at the end of each tale.. Also there is basic vocabulary for these exercises. This is the first Part of the book. In the second, and longer part (460 pages) there is basic vocabulary English to Konkani, Konkani with the relevant rules of grammar for the words (Parts of Speech). All in one book. I got printed locally at the University of Ottawa only 40 copies and gave all of them away free to friends, Konkani Organizations in India Mangalore, Bangalore, Goa and Mumbai), U.K., and the US (Washington DC: James Dante; Houston (Vivian Madtha), California (NC KCA), Chicago (Dr Austin D'Souza), and a number of others; and have sent free pdf copies to over fifty individuals all over the world who requested. I couldn't afford to spend for printing more copies. I have none left, except for my own family. If you, or any KOT member is interested, I am prepared to send free pdf version to all of them. My email address is: mohanprabhu0117@gmail.com. If you are not interested, just delete this message.
